John’s Pool Supplies has been in operation and serving the tri-county area since 1979. The company was established by John Updike of Martinsburg. He was a man ahead of his time seeing the need for such a business even before pools were popular. At one point, in his 30 plus years of being in business, he had 5 locations: Martinsburg, Inwood, Charles Town, Winchester, and Hagerstown. Throughout the years he also involved his 2 daughters and 1 son in making it a family-operated business. After retiring in 2005 he left the day to day operations to his son, John Updike II.
